- from Titanic
All that was left afloat of the Titanic after 2:20 a.m. was 20 lifeboats. They held just over 700 survivors. People were seasick and freezing. Nobody knew if or when a rescue ship would arrive.
For most of those in the freezing water, there was little hope. One survivor said the cries for help were loud at first. It sounded like the crowd at a baseball stadium after a home run. But soon, the shouting faded away as the cold silenced the voices.
