Ladybugs aren’t actually bugs. Real bugs (like bed bugs) feed by sucking juices from plants or animals. Not ladybugs. Most ladybugs feed on small insects like aphids. Pollen, seeds, and nectar may also be on the menu.
Many people believe ladybugs are good luck. In Europe, finding a ladybug on farm crops means the harvest will be good. Ladybugs are also mentioned in nursery rhymes like this Mother Goose rhyme:
