Newborn babies are feeling machines. Their brains don’t yet grasp much of what they see, hear, taste, or smell.
But a baby can quickly identify a parent’s touch or tell when its diaper needs changing. As babies get older, other senses give them more information about the world. But the sense of touch remains key to human survival.
