Rocket is the word for the tall, slim vehicle on a launchpad ready to fly into space.
It is also the name of the engine that takes the vehicle up there. Rocket engines can be large, like the one in a spacecraft. They can also be small. They may have a lot of power or only some. They may make an object go very far away or just send it a short distance. Rocket engines have all these differences. But they all work by burning fuel and turning it into hot gas. The gas is pushed out the back to make thrust. Thrust is the force that moves the object.
