Plan B is an alternate strategy, or approach to something. A bit like a second choice. It’s what you do if your first plan doesn’t work out.
Say you and your family plan to take a walk in the park this Saturday, but rain is in the forecast. You might decide on a Plan B, just in case the forecast is correct, like playing a board game instead. Great idea.
The trouble is, when it comes to planet Earth, our home, there is no Plan B. If Earth’s climate continues to change as it has been, scientists predict extremely harmful effects. Rising temperatures, increased wildfires, declining supplies of water, smaller crop harvests, longer droughts, more heat waves, stronger storms, rising sea levels, more flooding along the coasts, loss of plant and animal habitats, an increased rate of extinctions. None of this is good news for future generations, and people everywhere are protesting to let everyone know.
