Every day, every person in this country throws away about four pounds of trash.
In one year, Americans throw away 60 million plastic bottles and almost 2 million aluminum soda cans. One year’s worth of garbage in the United States would fill enough garbage trucks to reach halfway to the moon. Much of the trash goes to landfills. A landfill is an area just for trash. The costs and problems of opening new landfills are huge. This is where conservation comes in.
