During General Sherman’s March last year, Union soldiers set buildings ablaze and destroyed crops in Georgia. They pulled apart railroad tracks all the way from Atlanta to Savannah. But here, the city was burned by Confederate soldiers who knew the Union Army was on the way. Hundreds of thousands of people have died in the war. Nobody has money to rebuild.
