Americans became more concerned about the Vietnam War in the late 1960s. More U.S. troops were being killed or taken prisoner. Many people were not as worried about communism as they had been earlier in the decade. Some didn't think the U.S. had a good reason to be in Vietnam. The 1970s brought an end to the war. But Presidents Richard M. Nixon and Gerald R. Ford faced many new challenges.
