Sam Clemens was born on November 30, 1835, in the small village of Florida, Missouri. He was tiny and sickly, and his parents didn’t know if he would be alive in the morning.
Fortunately, he was. When “Little Sammy” was four, the family moved to Hannibal, a larger town in Missouri. It was located on the banks of the Mississippi River. Sam later called it a “boy’s paradise,” because it was so full of interesting things to do and see.
