3-2-1-Blastoff!
The countdown before a rocket blasts into space is always thrilling! Robert Goddard was the first to launch a rocket into space. It wasn’t long after Goddard shot off his first rockets that astronaut Neil Armstrong took his first step on the moon. Since that time, rockets have lifted hundreds of spacecraft and satellites into orbit. They have carried space shuttles to and from the International Space Station. They have sent uncrewed spacecraft to Mars and Jupiter.
