The Inca empire ended when the Spanish conquered it. That was in the 1500s. But high in the Andes are still many reminders of the Inca way of life.
Many villagers still speak Quechua, the Inca language. They make and eat foods much as the Incas did. They plow their fields with age-old tools. Also, parts of the royal road are still there. Today, visitors to Peru and other parts of the Inca empire can still walk in the footsteps of the Incas.
