What was life like during the Scientific Revolution and the Enlightenment? Basically, the world turned upside down.
Things people had thought were true for centuries were shown to be false. New information and new ideas kept coming. It was exciting and weird. The new ideas changed people’s minds about the world in three big ways. First, they found a new belief in progress. Progress is the idea that things can change for the better. Second, they had a more secular, or nonreligious, view of the world. Third, people started believing in the importance of the individual. They became more educated and learned the ideas of the philosophers. That helped these three big ideas take hold.
