Along the Tiber River is a group of seven hills. The hills are not far from the river’s mouth. This is where the river reaches the sea. As you gaze at sheep and small villages, it’s hard to imagine that one day, this will be a city that rules over a vast empire.
The Roman civilization was one of the most influential in the world. You can still see its traces in modern languages, culture, architecture, and laws. But the place that would become Rome began as a collection of small farming villages. The villages were spread across those seven hills.
