Some deserts are burning hot during the day and ice cold at night. Others have snow in the winter.
Camels are found in some deserts. Gila (HE-luh) monsters live in others. Cactuses grow in some. Red poppies grow in others. Some deserts are made up only of sand. Other deserts have mountains and even ice.
Deserts are home to nomads. Nomads are people who wander from place to place. They are looking for food for themselves and their animals. Deserts are also home to people who have built cities there.
