How a Beam Bridge Works

Picture yourself down on all fours, as if you were crawling.

Which of these could not walk on your back: a mouse, a cat, or an elephant? Obviously, it’s the elephant!

The design of a beam bridge is similar to you on all fours. A horizontal beam (your back) is supported at each end by vertical posts (your arms and legs). A beam bridge is also known as a girder bridge. It is the simplest bridge to build. It is also the least expensive. It is perfect for crossing short distances.
