When Aztecs wanted to kick back and unwind, they danced, sang, ate, drank, and played sports. Nobles would host huge banquets.
Even the poor were included in the many festivals held to celebrate happy times. Special events in Aztec life included the opening of a new temple, welcoming warriors back from a victory in battle, and the death of a ruler or the appointment of a new one. Aside from religious rituals, other important ceremonies included the birth and naming of an infant, entering and leaving school, marriage, and death.
