Archaeologists don’t have all the answers. Sometimes, the answers they have are wrong.
Unsolved histories go beyond just a few artifacts. There are murder mysteries, like the Bog People case, that go back centuries. Who killed these Iron Age Europeans? And why? They were stabbed, strangled, or hung and then tossed into bogs. Another mystery: what happened to the Anasazi people of the Southwest? They carved pueblos (villages) out of cliffs and then abandoned them.
The biggest historical mysteries involve whole continents: Who was the first European to step on American soil? Definitely not Christopher Columbus, as history used to tell us.
