Although there are no native peoples of Antarctica, the continent is home to over 100 research stations (nearly half of which operate year-round), run by approximately 30 nations.
All the scientists are dedicated to performing research for peaceful purposes. No one owns Antarctica, but administration is carried out by the 50 member nations of the 23rd Antarctic Treaty.
