Ready to go back in time to Africa?
We will climb pyramids and follow camel caravans across the desert. At busy markets, we’ll see merchants trade salt for gold.
Africa is a big continent. It’s three times the size of the United States! We will visit kingdoms from Egypt in the north to Zimbabwe in the south. But we won’t have enough time to see all of Africa’s many kingdoms.
Our adventure starts in Egypt. It’s one of the world’s oldest kingdoms. After that we go south of the Sahara to the great trading empires of West Africa. Then it’s on to the kingdom of Benin. In Benin, master craftsmen make beautiful bronze plates called plaques. The plaques show pictures of great things their rulers have done. Finally, we will travel far to the southeast. There we’ll look at the ruins of the once-great center of the empire of Great Zimbabwe. Ready to go?
