What is your favorite memory? Is it a memory of a kitten purring on your lap as you stroked its warm, smooth, silky fur? Or do you recall zooming down a hill on a shiny new bicycle as the wind whistled in your ears?
Perhaps your favorite memory is the smell of the Christmas tree in your house during the holiday season. Whatever your favorite memory is, you have it because of your five senses: sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell. Your senses are the way you experience the world.
Almost everyone knows what it’s like to lose one of the five senses, even if it’s only for a short time. At a party, you may have tried to pin the tail on the donkey while blindfolded. Or maybe you covered your ears when a truck or train raced by. It’s almost impossible to taste and smell when you have a cold. Maybe you lost the sense of touch in your mouth thanks to a shot from the dentist. But to imagine life without any of your senses is impossible. That’s because it is through the senses that you experience life.
