You probably think of a mob as a large group of angry people. But a group of meerkats is also called a mob. They’re not necessarily angry though. They’re individuals living together and cooperating.
Meerkats inhabit the deserts and grasslands of southern Africa. They live in burrows, which they dig themselves or adapt from holes dug by other animals. Their burrows may be as long as 16 feet, curving and winding six feet underground. Each may have over a dozen entrances, plus tunnels and spaces for sleeping. A mob may move from one burrow to another every few months.
