Most iguanas are big. All are fierce-looking. Many come across as dangerous. But they aren’t. At least not to other animals. These bulky lizards eat mostly parts of plants, like leaves, fruits, and flowers.
Iguanas live mainly in the forests of Central and South America and the Caribbean. They also live in the warm parts of the United States like Florida and Hawaii. These are places where they can find the food they need to survive. And survive they do. Some kinds of iguanas can live for a few decades. Pet iguanas (yes, some people keep iguanas as pets) may live even longer.
