You may find this creature in zoos all over the world, but it’s found in nature in only two places. The United States and China. Did you guess the creature was an alligator?
If so, you were right! In the U.S., American alligators, as they’re called, live mainly in the wetlands of Florida and Louisiana. A wetland is a place covered by water all or most of the time. Swamps and marshes, like the Florida Everglades, are wetlands. You might also find alligators in the lakes and slow-moving rivers of North Carolina and eastern Texas.
