Shake, rattle, and roll! Mexico and Central America are fascinating areas. They are home to beautiful mountains, lush rain forests, winding rivers, and deep canyons.
They are also home to lots of volcanoes. Mexico has more than 40! Central America has even more. In fact, hundreds of volcanoes dot the fault line off the western coast of Central America.
This active volcano zone is called the Central American Volcanic Arc. It’s part of the larger volcano zone known as the Pacific Ring of Fire. Some active volcanoes in the region include: Colima in Mexico, Arenal in Costa Rica, Cerro Negro in Nicaragua, Izalco in El Salvador, and Fuego in Guatemala.
