Earth is one of four small planets in our solar system that are made mostly of rock. The 4.6 billion years of Earth’s existence have been, well, kind of rocky.
Earthquakes, volcanoes, glaciers, wind, and water are always reshaping Earth’s surface. Earth’s rocky surface is covered by many things. Soil, trees, grass, buildings, and roads cover a lot of it. But underneath, it’s all rock.
