Read Confidently with 3 Lexile Reading Levels
Every topic within the Kids Discover Online's award-winning library of science and social studies material offers 3 Lexile Reading Levels. Lexile Reading Scores take into account grammar, vocabulary, and sentence-length. The Lexile scale is a measurement of a student's level on a developmental scale of reading ability. Lexile measures are based on two major factors that determine how difficult a text is to comprehend: word frequency and sentence length.
Based on Common Core State Standards text measures, the following 3 levels are available for every topic within Kids Discover Online:
Lexile levels:
- 560- 740 - targeted at 3rd and 4th grade students
- 750-890 - targeted at 5th and 6th grade students
- 900-1040 - targeted at 7th and 8th grade students
The Common Core Standards' Lexile Reading Levels were designed to both help educators and parents understand their student’s current reading level and determine where they should strive to reach. The initiative was originally built to ensure that students are on track to graduate college and be career-ready.
